Rule- The hand needs to be wet with water for making masah even if wetness is left over from after the washing ofanother part ofthe body or has been obtained from new water. Wetness left over on the hand from making masah on a part of the body shall not be sufficient for making Masah for anotherpart. (Raddul-Muhtaar) Rule- Masah of a scarf on the head is not sufficient. However, if the scarf is so subtle and the wetness is so great that it can transgress the fabric and reach a quarter ofthe head or hair making it moist then masah shall be done. (Behr, etc. ) 4. To Wash the feet The ankles are also included in this and it is fardh to wash the bottom part of the leg including the area between the toes, meaning the entire foot. (Basicbooks offiqh) Rule- The area between the toes, toenails, leg bracelets, toe-rings etc. have the same order mentioned above about fingernails and hand­ jewellery etc. (FataawaRazvia) MISCELLANEOUS RULES I . Towash the internal area ofthe eye part ofthe eyelids that internally touch the iris ofthe eye is not required. Rather, it should not be done as doing so is harmful to the eye. (FataawaRazvia) 2. For water to flow over the body parts which are compulsory to be washed, is a condition, even i f it is not made to flow by the individual hersel f rather by something else, e.g. a person was standing in the rain andwater flowed over the parts that are needed to be washed, then they shall be deemed as washed. Also, if a quarter ofthe head became moist due to being in a slight drizzl e then the obligation ofmasah of the head shall be complete.
