WHAT MAKES GHUSAL FARDH Ghusal becomes Fardh due to any one of the following five things, 1 . Mani- Sperm leaving its original place with shehwat (lust) and coming out ofthe private part. Hence, if mani leaves it original place to come out ofthe private part but without shehwat, e.g. lifting something heavy, falling from a high place, coming out at the time ofurinating or a few drops coming out by itselfwithout any lust then, in all these cases, ghusal does not become fardh. Yes, wudhu is broken ! 2. Ilttilaa11l- If after awaking from sleep, a person feels wetness on the body or clothes then ghusal is waaj ib, irrespective ofwhether the dream is remembered or not. If there is yakeen (certainty), though, that this is not mani ormazibut urine, perspiration or something else, then ghusal is not waaj ib, even ifthe ihtilaam is remembered and the thought ofinzaal (mani coming out) is felt. (Raddul-Muhtaar) Rule- If a man and woman both sleep on a bedstead and, when they awake, find mani on it but both rej ect having ihtilaam, then..,ghusal should be made by them. The white-coloured liquid substance that emerges from the private part at the beginning of shehwat, which does not diminish lust but increases it, is known as mazi . Ghusal does not become fardh on account ofmazi. During shehwat, the thick fluid that comes out of the private part is known as mani (semen, spenn). After mani comes out shehwat is decreased and normality is regained (one is not lustful). Due to mani emerging, ghusal becomes fardh. (Hidaaya, Fathul-Qadeer, ete) 3 .Hasltfaa- The entering of the female private part by the head of the penis makes ghusal fardh, be it with lust and ejaculation or without them. Ifone ofthem is baaligh and the other is not then ghusal is fardh on the Baaligh. Regarding the naa-baaligh however, although ghusal is . not fardh to be done, the individual shaII be ordered to make ghusaI . (GeneralBook<;) 2 1
