It is haraamupon the person on whom ghusal is obligatory to enter the musj id, touch the Holy Quraan or to recite it without touching it by looking or by memory, or to touch a Ta'weez on which an ayat is written. (Raddul-Muhtaar) 7. Ifthe Quraan is in ajuzdaall (case) then there is no harm in touching it (the juzdaan). Similarly, touching the Quraan with a shawl, any cloth that is not worn by the person's body or adjoined to the Quraan, etc. is permissible. It is haraam to touch it with the ends of one's sleeves or scarf or to touch it by the material sown on to it. (Durre-Mukhtam: Raddul-Muhtaar) 8. (Raddul-Muhtaar) 1 1 . It is haraam on one who does not have wudhu to also touch the Quraan or any ayat from it. Yes, reading the Quraan without touching it by looking or by memory is allowed for one without wudhu. (Dun'e­ Mukhtaar) PERMISSABLE WATER FOR WUDHU AND GHUSAL Rule- It is permissible to make wudhu and ghusal with rain water, water from a stream, canal, fountain, river, well, hail-stones, ice or sea water. (General Books) Rule- Wudhu and ghusal is not allowed with water that has been mixed with something for purposes other than for purifying, e.g. water in tea, gravy or rose-essence.
