A FEWAHADEETH The Holy Prophet fj. has said, 1 . We have been given excellence over other peopl e in three things. A) Our sajls (rows ofprayer) has been l ikened to the saffs ofangels. B) The entire earth has been made a musj id for us. C) The sand ofthe earth has beenmade as purification for us whenwe cannot find water. (Muslim) 2. Clean sand is the wudhu for a Muslim, even ifwater is not found for ten years. When water is found, though, use it for your bodies (make ghusal orwudhu) as thi s is better for you. (A buDawood, Tirmizi) 3 . Hazrat Abu Saeed �naITates, "There were two travellers who, when the time ofsalaah approched, had no water with them and had no choice but to make tayammun with clean sand and perform salaah. Later, during the time ofthis salaah, they eventually found water. One of them made wudhu with it and repeated his namaaz while the other did not. When they came to the Holy Prophet � and narrated their occurrence, he said to the one who did not repeat his namaaz, "You have reached the sunnat and your salaah is done." Thereafter, Rassoollalah � said to the other, "You have accumalated doubl e thawaab." (AbuDawood) FIQHI LAWS A person without wudhu or who has a need to bath but has no qudrat over water, meaning he or she cannot use it, then, i n p lace ofwudhu or ghusal, tayammum should be made. Having no qudrat overwater are ofvarious cases, 1 . Having such a sickness that if water is used it will increase it or recovery from it will take longer. This correct fear is through one 's personal experience of sickness being increased when water is used for wudhu or ghusal or i f an accomplished hakeem (doctor) who is not a visiblejcl([siq has said that there i s hann in using it.
