Thereafter, i fwithin 40 days the other child is born and blood came, then nifaas is from the birth ofthe first child until 40 days and then istihaaza. Ifthe second child was born after 40 days then, after the birth of the second child, whatever b lood comes is istihaaza, not nifaas. However the woman is still required to bath after the birth ofthe second child. (RaddulMuhtaar) Rule- When there is a gap of 6 months or more between the twins then blood that comes after the birth ofthe second twin is also nifaas. (Durre Mukhtaar) Rule- Ifblood comes and stops and comes again after a while, all within 40 days, then it will all be regarded as nifaas, even if there is a gap of 1 5 days between the coming ofblood. (Durre-Mukhtaar, etc) AHKAAM REGARDING HAIZ AND NIFAAS 1 . It is Haraam for a woman with haiz or nifaas to read the Quraan either by seeing or memory, to touch it even by its cover, to touch it with the tip of the finger nail or any part of the body or touch it with a piece of clothing worn by her, e.g. sleeve ofher dress, scarfetc. Ifthe Quraan is in a juzdaan (case) then there is no harm in her touching the case. (GeneralBooks) 2. To touch any piece ofpaper on which any ayat or surah ofthe Quraan is written is haraam. The Quraan with its translation into Farsi, Urdu or any other language has the same law regarding touching and reading as a normal Quraan. (Durre-Mukhaar, Alamghiri etc) 3 . A Mualima in the condition ofhaiz or nifaas is to teach the Quraan by individually reading each letter with a new breath. There is no harm if hijaa is made. (Raddul-Muhtaar) 4 . Besides the Holy Quraan, other azkaar, e.g. Kalima Shareef, Durood Shareef, istighfaar, etc. is, without any dissatisfaction, permissible. Rather, it is preferable.
