Muhtaar) Rule- When a naa-paak piece of earth becomes dry and the effect ofthe . lajaasat, meaning its colour and smell is no more, then it is considered raak. (General Books) MASAAIL CONCERNING ISTINJAA 1 • Before going to the toilet to pass urine or stool, it is mustahab to read the following dua outside the toilet, - , , ��\ :;�\ X i.� � �;i j��i �\ r; "0 Allah �! 1 ask Your protectionfrom impurity and Shaitaans. " The toilet should be entered with the left foot first and with the right foot firstwhen leaving with the following dua recited outside, �Ij� :; L>��\ ;s. ��i .s�\ �.L;Ji "Praise be to Allah $. who removedfrom me that which is harmfit! and has given me safety. " 2 . At the time of passing urine or stool or making tahaarat, the qibl a should not be shown the back nor faced and, i fa person sits towards it i n forgetfulness then, upon remembering, the direction ofsitting should be changed. Similarly, the back or face should not be shown t o the moon or sun. 3 . The above rule of not showing the back nor facing the qibla should also be kept in mindwhen taking children to the toilet. If this is not acted upon then the harm of not doing so falls on the one who takes the children. 4. It is makrooh to go to the toilet with one's head llncovered, to take anything into it that has any dua, the name of Allah, Rasool or any Buzurg on it, or to speak. 50
