(A lamghiri) Therefore, wearing fine, see-through clothes and scarves that expose the skin or texture ofthe body does not contribute to namaaz being done. Wearing c lothes that cover the body completely must be worn when making namaaz. Many women do not take heed of this and, in effect, the validity and bounties ofsalaah are squandered. Rule- If a body part which is fardh to be covered becomes exposed in namaaz less than a quarter ofthat body part, namaaz will be done. It will also be done if a quarter, of the body part becomes open but i s immediately covered. However, namaaz wi l l be nullified ifone opens it himself, even if it is covered immediately or remains exposed equal to the time of onc rukun (the time it takes to say "Subhannal lah" thrice ) . Alamghiri) Rule- If at the time of beginning the salaah (meaning when "Allahu­ Akbar" is said) a quarter ofa body part is exposed, then in this state onc's namaaz d i d not even begin. (Durre-Mukhtaal) 3 . lstiqbale-Qibla- To face the qibla (i.e. the Kaaba Shared) in namaaz. Rule- Aperson who is helpless and unable to face the qibla, e.g. she is so s ick that there is not enough strength for her to turn herself towards the Kaaba and there is no one there that can turn her towards i t, then in this s ituation in whatever direction Namaaz can take place, it should be read and it will be done. (Raddul-Muhtaar) Rule- If you are in an area wherein the direction of the Kaaba is not known then taharri should be made. Taharri means that one should reflect and wherever the heart bends to say is the direction of the qibla, that direction should be faced. I f, after taharri, it becomes known that the 55
