It is an undeniable truth that every human searches for someone to accompany him or her through life and this is t h e Fitrat (nature) created by Allah. Therefore Allah has deemed the mutual love and sincerity between a husband and wife from amongst His signs. 4. Using the word Sukoon (contentment) the Quraan has aptly described what a domestic relationship should comprise of. The domestic home should be a citadel of love and sincerity, free from the roughness of the world and if this is not so then either the husband and wife both or one of them is to blame for tarnishing the institution ofmarriage. Only by the wife being obedient to the husband and he being sensitive to her can the intera . ction ofa marriage relation be sustained. (Surah Nisaa, Verse 34) This Ayat states that men are appointed over the affairs of women, to see that their every need is fulfilled and that they are safe from every harm. Therefore even though a husband and wife are equal in their respective rights but for a moral society to be sculptured the wife should not be insolent to her husband and they (the husbands) should also present themselves in the manner that is demanded of them by the Shariah: In short the Quraan has impressed three basic rules onwomen 1 .
