Rooh does not come till the throat. Talqeen means the loud recital of Kalima Tayyiba or Shahaaclat by those around the dying person so that he or she can recite it after hearing it. However the dying person should not be said to recite the Kal ima as no onc knows the distress and problems he or she is experiencing and if he or she has to utter something incorrect due to pain then the good deeds earned during the lifetime will be squandered. For pious and virtuous people to be around the dying person at the time ofTalqeen is best and it isMustahab at that time there to make Tilaawat of Surah Yaseen and the air being fragrant e.g. :by lighting Lobaan orAgar-Bathi. (Alamghiri) When the dying person has recited both parts of the Kalima Tayyiba then a second recital should not be asked for in fear of him. or her becoming restless. Yes, i fafter the dying person reads the Kalima he or she speaks of something else then Talqeen should be done again so that the last utterance by him or her is "La illaha i llah Muhammadur Rassoo l l al ah" . However declaring " La i llahail lah" wi thout "Muhammadur-Rassoollalah" is not accepted. (Hi/ya etc) Rule- Women with Haiz and Nifaas can come near a person nearing death. (Al am gh i r i ) However a Junub, a woman whose Haiz orNifaas is completed but has not made Ghusal yet should not be allowed to come close to the dying person. An earnest attempt to not have pict..�·..;s or dogs in the house should be made because the angels ofmercy do not come near the home containing them. Dua of goodness for the dying person and ones self should be made at the time when pangs ofdeath are experienced. Nothing bad should be said also because the angels say Ameen on whatever is said at this time. Surah Yaseen and Ra'ad should be read when pain is experienced by the dying person. (Bahare-Shariat) Rule- When the soul exits the body a piece of cloth should be tied from under the jaw and knotted at the head so that the mouth does not remain open. The eyes should be closed with the fingers, hands and feet straightened. This should be done by the person who can do it in the most careful way, preferably the father or son. (.fauhara) Aheavy object e.g. a piece ofmetal, wet sand in a bag, should be placed on the stomach for it not to swell. (Alamghiri) 1 1 8
