(Fataawa Razvia) Rule- The Shariah does not disallow nor is there any sin in the cooking of food or lighting of fires or stoves in the funeral home. Due to the affliction of death however the bereaved do not do so. Therefore it is sunnat that food is cooked and sent for the bereaved family on the first day only with love and persistence used for them eating it. Food should not be sent on the second day and the food prepared should not be for more than the bereaved family. Other people there should not partake of it. (Fataawa Razvia) GHUSALAND KAFAN OF THE MAYYIT To bath the Mayyit is Fardh-e-Kifaaya ,if a few people gave then the responsibility of doing so falls away from all others. (Alamghiri) Rule- To take a wage for bathing the deceased is permissible ifbesides the person giving the bath there are many other people there that can do so. However it is better if a wage is not taken. To take a wage is not permissible though ifthere is no one else around who can bath the body. (Alamghirz) The method of bathing a Mayyit The counter on which the Mayyit will be washed should be smoked three or five times by taking the vessel in which the perfume (eg. Lobaan) is inflamed around it. Then the Mayyit should be placed on it coverirlg thebody from the navel until the knees with a cloth. � A cloth should be wrapped around the hand ofthepersongivingGhusal with Istinja ofthe Mayyit made and then Wudhu, first washing the face, the hands including the elbows, Masah ofthe head and lastly the feet.
