Rule- One should not wish and wait for someone to die so that food prepared due to the death can be consumed . Wishing so causes the heart to become hard and bereft of any passion for Ibaadat or Zikr. (Fataawa Razvia) RIGHTS OF PARENTS AFTER THEY PASS AWAY 1 . The foremost right after passing away is of their Tajheez, Takfeen and Tadfeen (Ghusal, Kafan and Burial) to be completed with all the Sunan and Mustahabaat so that maximumBarkat and Rahmat can be attained. 2. Dua and Istighfaar must be made for them always and never neglected. 3. Isaale-Thawaab of Sadqa, Charity and other good deeds for them should be made. 4. Whatever debt they had should be settled as quickly as possible. Settling it with ones own wealth is a means ofattaining much blessing in both worlds but ifthis cannot be done then help to settle the debt can be asked from other family members and friends. 5. Any Fardh that remained on them should earnestly be completed and if Hajj was not performed then make Hajj on their behalf or Hajj-e Badal. Any Zakaat that needed settling should be given out. Kafarah of namaaz or fasting should be given. In short a concerted effort must be made to complete anywant ofthe Shariat on them. 6. WhateverWasiyat (will) they made (which ispermissible according to the Shariah) should sincerely be implaced even i f it is not correct according to the Shariah or weighs heavily eg If Wasiyat for half the estate is made to be given to anAjnabee (who is not an inheritor) so even though more than a third of inheritance cannot be given in Wasiyat without the permission ofthe inheritors it is appropriate for the children to accept the Waasiyat and place their parents wish over theirs. 7. Their Qasam (oath) should be kept true after their death as welI, e.g. if 1 42
