(Durre-Mukhtaar) Ifstanding is truly difficult. Rule- Fast of silence kept by some women is Makrooh, if it is believed that by remaining silent Thawaab will be attained. If done without this belief then there is no harm. It will not be Makrooh if this is done to protect one' s self from unbecoming utterances rather this is better as to not utter bad is Waajib. Similarly to speak unnecessarily is not appreciated by the Shariah. In short the above is dependent on Niyyat andAllah � knows the condition ofan intention the best. BREAKING NAFL SAUM Rule- If Rauza is intentionally commenced then Qadhaa becomes Waajib to be kept for it, if broken. A person thinking that there was a Rauza necessary upon her, kept fast but afterwards she realized that there was no fast necessary on her, so she broke the Rauza immediately. In this case nothing is incurred but if she did not break Rauza as soon as she realized so and continued with the fast then she cannot break the fast now. Qadhaa becomes Waaj ib ifshe breaks it. (Durre-Mukhtaar) Rule- If Nafl Rauza was broken unwillingly and unintentionally e.g. Haiz began during the fast, stil l too does Qadhaa become Laazim. (Durre-Muktaar) Rule- To break a Nafl Rauza without an excuse is not permissible but i f there is a valid reason then breaking it is allowed, e.g. to eat with a guest, if 1t is known that this person wi l l be hurt i f the host does not join i n or eatingwith the host when one who is fasting becomes a guest and it is known that not eating will upset the host. I n cases like these, it is permissible to break it on condition that there is faith of keeping if s qadhaa and on condition that it is broken before noon. Similarly, Nafl 1 66
