When the girl becomes mature and gets married, then her Nafqaa becomes waaj ib on the husband and the father is released from the responsibility. (Alamghiri) Rllle- Ifthe father is poor then he should work and feed his children but if he himself is unable to earn a living, e.g. he is disabled, then their Nafqaa becomes the responsibility of the patemal grandfather and in this case the Nafqaa of the disabled son becomes the grandfather' s obligation also. (Raddul-Muhtaar) Rule- If a person has two sons, one is Maalike-Nisaab only and the other is very wealthy still too must Nafqaa be equal between the two. (Durre-Mukhtaar) Rllle- Nafqaa for a mother is the responsibility of the son, if he is not disabled and even if he is poor. This is when she is a widow but if she marries again, then Nafqaa becomes the obligation of her husband. However if she is in Nikah of the son' s father and both mother and father are needy then both their Nafqaa is the responsibility of the son. (Durre-Mukhtaa7� Raddul-Muhtaar) Rllle- Ifa father is poor and he has small needy children but his elder son is wealthy then the Nafqaa ofthe father and his small children becomes waaj ib on the elder son. (Alamghin) Rllle- If the son cannot provide Nafqaa for both his mother and father but j ust one of them then the mother is niore worthy. If he cannot provide complete Nafqaa for any of them, then he should feed and clothe both with what he eats or buys. Rule- Nafqaa for relatives which areMahaarim (those with whomNikah is ahvays Haraam) is also Waaj ib provided that they are needy or Naa­ Baaligh or female. If the relative is a Baaligh male then it is also a condition that he is unable to eam a living, e.g. he is blind, disabled etc. Ifthis Aaj izi (inability) is not found then Nafqaa is not Waaj ib even ifhe is needy. There is no condition ofBaaligh or Naa-Baaligh conceming a woman rather even if she is able to work for a l iving still to is Nafqaa 2 1 8
