Al l these gatherings should be free fromwailing, lamenting, self inj ury and other Shia practices. The Ahadeeth have prohibited all these actions and Muslims are to act upon the command ofAllah � and His Rasool �. This p leases ImaamHusain�and other Shuhadaa � ofKarbala. AQEEQAAND CIRCUMCISION Rule- Aqeeqa is known as the slaughtering ofan animal (sheep,goat ete) in thanks of a child being born. It is Mubaah, Mustahab not Laazim, necessary or Sunnate-Muakada and if a person does not complete it he wi l l not be answerable in the divine presence. The Holy Prophet � is reported to have made Aqeeqa of either one or two rams on behalf of Sayyiduna Imaam Hasan and Husain�. (Abu Dawood, Nasaai) Therefore ,Aqeeqa will be a means ofBarkat for us as well. Ulema state that safety, development and praiseworthy characteristics are joined withAqeeqa, so those who love their children should notabandon it. Rule- When a child is born, it is Mustahab to give Azaan four times in the right ear and Iqaamat three times in the left ear. Insha-allah through this afflictions wi l l be removed. Azaan and Iqaamat should be given for a boy and girl child both. On the seventh day a name should be given and the child' s head shaved with Aqeeqa occurring at that very time. Thereafter Sadqa of silver and ifA llah �bestows, then gold should be given according to the weight of the hair. (Ifaadaate Razvia, Bahare Shariat) Rule- Names kept should be good ones, not fashionable, meaningless names as is the trend today. The names ofthe Ambiyah, Sahaaba, Ahle Bait, Tabaeen and other Buzurgaane - Deen should be kept so that their Barkat also remains with. Names that do not appear in the Quraan, Hadeeth and which are not used by Muslims should not be given. (Alamghiri) Rule- A bad name should be changed and a good one kept. A Hadeeth states, "On the day ofQiyaamat, youwill be called by your name and by the na m es ofyour fathers. Therefore keep good names." Muhammed is 22 1
