Rule- If someone announces a particular reward to be given for information ofa lost obj ect and another person provides it to him, then if he wishes to give something as a reward, he can do so. According to the Shariah, this is not Ijaarah and it' s Ahkaam do not apply here. (Bahrur Raaiq) Rule- If a rouge gave something to a person and he accepted it but knows well that it is the property ofKhalid then he should return it to the owner. Ifnot, then the given object should be distributed in charity and not given back to the thief. (Bahrur-Raaiq) Rule- If an Ajnabee Musaafir came to a person' s home and died, then whatever money of his remains after completing Tajheez and Takfeen, cannot be used by the owner of the house even if he is needy as this money is not Luqt. (Alamghiri) If the money is five Dirhams with whereabouts of the inheritors not known and the owner of the house is needy, then he can spend the money on himself. It should be distributed amongst the destitute if the owner is not needy. The money should be given in the Baitul-Maal (Islamic Treasury) i f it is more then five Dirhams and the inheritors are not known. (Durre-Mukhtaar) In the case where there is no Baitul-Maal, other Muslim's consultation should be acted upon. Rule- The water gathered in utensils kept out in rain for the purpose of gathering it cannot be used by anotherwithout the consent ofthe person who placed them there. If the utensils were not kept there for this purpose then another is permitted to use it. (Alamghiri) The fol lowing dua should be read when an object is lost by someone, 263
