RlIle- I t is not allowed to use a Musalla or furniture that has something written on it as even divided Huroof are to be respected. (Raddul Muhtaar) RlIle- Going against a promise made to someone is a bad action and if done without any Shar ' ee reason, is a sign of Ni faaq-e-Amali (hypocrLsy o./practice) . However, if you break your word due to a Shar' ee reason, then this will not incur the sin of breaking a promise, e.g. promising to attend a function b ut when reaching it, un- I slamic practices of music and dance is found and you walk out from it. (Tahaawi) RlIle- Nazar (casting of the eye) is a reality and proven from the Ahadeeth. A tradition states that when a person sees something belonging to his Muslim brother and likes it, he should read the fol lowing Dua. Tabaarakallah Ahsanul-Khaaliqeen, A lIahwnma Baariklee Or the following should be said, "Allah grant you barkat and 0 Allah, save him from Nazar-e-Badd (evil-eye) ." Saying such utterances, Insha allah, wil l keep Nazar at bay. (Raddul-Mllhtam) After bathing children and dressing them up, the above should be read so as to protect them from Nazar-e-Badd, Insha-allah. \Rule- If used utensils of Kuffar (Hindus, Christians ete) are bought or attained, then without making them Paak, it is Makrooh to eat or drink from them. This is in the case when it is not known if the utensils are Naj is, but i f it is known that they are, then to eat or drink form them is Haraam. (Alamghiri) Rllle- To narrate or listen to fictitious or even fabricated stories that have Naseehat (goodadvice) is permissible, e.g. stories ofthe lion and fox etc that have Naseehat and are recorded in Mathn�wi Shareef, the Gu listaan ofShaik Saadi 4fo etc. (Durre-Mukhtaar, Bahare-Shariat) 282
