Rule- To smoke Huqqa or cigarettes, as is the norm throughout the world and general Muslim public with even the Mashaaikh, Ulema and Fuzala taking part in smoking, from the east to thewest,Arabs andNon­ Arabs , is permitted according to the Shariah. There is no reason for it to be Haraam or Makrooh. It' s smell is disliked but this Karaahat is a natural dislike not a Shar· ee Makrooh. However, if it is smoked solely for the purpose of bringing on intoxication, or disorder in intelligence and bodily harm is caused then this particular scenario of smoking is impermissible and Haraam. However, if they are kept hungry, thirsty and forced to fly without any rest, then keeping them is Haraam. Rule- Using knives and forks to eat or cut meat which is the practice of the Christians and unfortunately practiced by Muslims of today, especially affluent homes, is a very detested action according to the Shariah. A Hadeeth states, "Meat should be cut with the teeth and eaten as this is more pleasant and aids digestion." I f there is a need to use a knife, e.g. the meat is hard still then there is no harm in using one. Doing so is also proven from the Holy Prophet � but to use this practice, which was done out of a necessitv, as a proof to use a knife and fork generally, is incorrect.
