"And walk not on the eat1h boastfully." (Surah Bani Israeel, Verse 3 7) This Ayat aims to prevent displaying any form ofpride or vanity caused through knowledge, power, authority, weal th, beauty etc even in the stride or walk of a Muslim. We are to demonstrate humility and humbleness in anythi ng we do. Therefore, there are a few Aadaab to govern our walking in the manner that pleases our creator, Al lah �. I . Aperson is to display humi l i ty while walking and should be conscious ofwhere he is p lacing his foot both l iterally and figuratively. 2. I f women come across men or vice versa then they should not pass between but through the left or right ofthem. 3. Women should not wear and walk with jewelry that makes noise because it' s sound creates thoughts in the minds ofthose who l isten to it. 4. Fragrance that ignites the senses of others should not be used by womenwhen they come out oftheir homes. 5. If there is no need, a woman should not let Ajnabee men know her voice but in a need, even the Quraan allows speaking. 6. When a chaste woman leaves her home due to a need, she is to cover her entire body from head to toe with a Burqa or large covering. Apart of the Burqa should shade the face as wel l . 7 . Make up, j ewelry and other means ofdecoration, should not be used by women to be displayed before Ajnabee men when coming out of the home. 8. While walkmg, women should lower their gaze and not look at men or discuss thei r appearances just as how men are ordered to not intentionally look at women. Bl ind men are also not to be looked at. 9. Women should not walk in the middle ofthe road, but on the ends of it. 300
