4. Aadaab ofgriefhave already been discussed before in this book. AADAAB CONCERNING NEIGHBORS A few Ahadeeth and their explanation are listed here, 1 . "Oath on Allah ! He is not a mumin," was said thrice by the Holy Prophet !ifi and when asked who he was talking about, he explained, "The person whose neighbors are not free and safe from his trouble." (Bukhari) 2. The person whose neighbors are not safe from his trouble will not enterJannat. (Muslim) 3 .According to Allah , the neighbor who is a well- wisher of his neighbors is the best ofall. 4. He who has Imaan on Allah and Qayaamat is to respect his neighbors. (Haakim) 5 . He who eats his belly ful l while his neighbors are starving is not a completeMumin. (Tibrani) These Ahadeeth clearly teach that neighbor are to be respected and shown affection, their needs are to be fulfilled and you are to be a well wisher for them. Doing this is a sign of Imaan and l ove for Allah and His Rasool !ifi . Hence the doors ofJannat are opened for the person who does so. An excellent method to strengthen and foster love between neighbors is the mutual exchange ofgifts. For this, even the most ordinary items of food and drink suffice. Generally women accept gifts. Therefore they are taught to not scorn the present sent even if it is the hoof of a goat. This advice is for both the "ender and receiver, meaning the former should not say, "How can I send something so meager as a gift" and the l atter should not degrade the gift sent. 305
