51 Tell them about Abraham’s guests, 52 when they came to him, saying, “Peace!” He answered, “We’re afraid of you.” 53 The angels said, “Don’t be afraid. We bring you good news of a scholarly son.” 54 He said, “You’ve brought me good news when old age has caught up with me? What good news have you brought me?” 55 They said, “Don’t despair, we bring you good news.” 56 He said, “Only the misguided despair of the Lord’s kindness.” 57 He then asked, “Messengers, what’s your mission?” 58 They told him, “We’ve been sent to destroy the sinners’ community, 59 but we’ll save Lot’s family 60 except his wife, who’ll remain behind.” T L 61 When the angels came to Lot’s home, 62 he said, “You’re strangers for me.” 63 They said, “We’ve brought you what they doubt. 64 We’ve brought the truth, and we are the truthful. 65 Tonight set off with your family, following behind them. Let no one look back, but continue as you are told.” 66 We decided this for him; all traces of the sinners will be smashed when they wake up at dawn. T L 67 The people of the town came excitedly to Lot’s home . 68 Lot told them , “These are my guests, so don’t shame me. 69 Fear God and don’t disgrace me.” 70 They said, “Haven’t we told you not to interfere in our affairs ” 71 Lot said, “Here are my daughters of my community 33 , if you must do something.” 72 God swears by your life, Muhammad , 34 that they were reeling about in their drunkennes s 35 73 when the Blast overtook them at sunrise; 74 and We turned their town upside down and pelted them with stones of baked clay. 75 In this are signs for the intelligent people. 76 It is still visible along one of the established trade routes. 77 Here are signs for the believers. P M T 78 The people of the woodlan d 36 were evil, 79 so We took vengeance on them, and both towns remain easily visible off an open highway. 80 The people of the Hijr region called the messengers liars. 81 We brought them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 82 They carved houses in the mountains, living safely 83 until the Blast overtook them at dawn; 84 and their wealth didn’t benefit them in any way.
