L ’ 169 “My Lord, save me and my family from what they do.” 170 So We saved him and all his family, 171 except an old woman, who stayed behind. 172 Then We destroyed the others, 173 pelting them with a rain of brimstone . The Lord of the worlds will reward me. 181 Be honest in your measures, and don’t be cheats. 182 Weigh with accurate scales; 183 don’t serve people short, and don’t spread corruption in the land. 184 Be mindful of Him Who created you and many previous generations.” 185 They said, “You are bewitched. 186 You are a mortal like us; and we think you’re a liar. 187 Cause a chunk of sky to fall on us, if you are telling the truth.” 188 He said, “My Lord knows well what you do.” 189 They refused to believe him, so the torment of a Day of impenetrable shade 5 overtook them. What a dreadful Day of torment that was! 190 There is a sign in that, but most will not believe. 191 Your Lord is the Almighty, the Caring. R Q G 192 And this is the Revelation of the Lord of the worlds, 193 which that trustworthy spirit, the Angel Gabriel , brought down 194 straight into your heart so you become a warner 195 in a clear Arabic language; 196 and it is found in the scriptures of earlier nations . 197 Have they not received a sign that the scholars of the Israelites will recognise? 198 If We had revealed it to someone who wasn’t an Arab, 199 and he had recited it to them, they still wouldn’t have believed it.
