The Majestic Quran

82. Al-Infitar The Cleaving This is an early Makkan chapter. Its central theme is self-deception that turns a person away from God. After taking the oaths of the events leading to Judgement Day, a question is gently asked: “people, what deceived and misled you from your generous Lord?” (6) The qualities of the Lord of all creation are recalled to prick the conscience. Humanity is warned: you are monitored by the Angels who record your every move. On Judgement Day, all will give an account. In the name of God, the Kind, the Caring. W ? 1 When the sky is cleaved, 2 when the stars are scattered, 3 when the oceans surge and merge, 4 when the graves are turned inside out – 5 that Day , every person will know what it did and what it failed to do. 6 People, what deceived you from your generous Lord? 7 He created you, assigned you a provision, and perfected you 8 with a beautifully -shaped physical appearance as He pleased. 9 Yet, you still deny the Judgement. 10 The guardians standing over you are 11 the noble scribes, 12 who know what you do. T - 13 The righteous will enjoy the delights of Paradise , 14 whilst the wicked will be damned in Hell. 15 They will enter in it on Judgement Day, 16 and they won’t ever be able to leave. 17 What can explain to you the reality of the Day of Judgement? 18 Again, what can explain to you the reality of Judgement Day? 19 The Day when no one will be able to do anything for another person; only God’s command will prevail that Day.
